Tying Barr's Slumpbuster

Ryan and I have been using this fly quite a bit over the past year. It has worked well on trout in Black Hills streams, bass on the Missouri, and it caught Ryan's biggest brown on the Bighorn. Tie this in Black, Olive, Barred Flesh, Brown, or Barred Ginger. It will do you proud. This is another great pattern from the inventor of the Copper John, John Barr. It is featured in his great book- Barr Flies.

Great stuff Hans. Thanks for the videos. I can't wait to try some of these flies next time I'm out in the Hills. Any suggestions on where to buy materials. It seems like the large retail outlets have pretty generic stuff. Do you sell tying materials in Rapid? Thanks.

Nice job, but I recommend the original pine squirrel (widely available) rather than rabbit.

Not only is Barr's pattern tied with squirrel, but the proportions of the fly are affected by long rabbit fur (including nearly hiding the tinsel body).
